Firefly Sisterhood

Founded in Minnesota, Firefly Sisterhood emerged from a vision of ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone, inspired by research conducted by the Yoplait Division of General Mills.

As part of the Big Bold Experiment, a company-wide initiative to foster innovation and community engagement, the Yoplait team collaborated with Olson Agency and engaged in focus groups with breast cancer survivors & thrivers. They found a profound need for meaningful connections among women who had shared similar journeys, leading to the creation of Firefly Sisterhood. Here’s to ten years of connection, support, and unwavering commitment!

Our unique matching process ensures that every support seeker is paired with a Peer Mentor Guide whose breast cancer experience closely mirrors their own. Unlike automated systems, our dedicated program staff personally manage each match, thoughtfully considering your individual experiences and priorities. Our Peer Mentor Guides are committed to providing ongoing social and emotional support, helping you find hope and healing during a very challenging time.

“As soon as you hear the words “you have cancer” your world turns upside down. My Peer Mentor Guide was so supportive and caring. She helped me learn how to feel all my feelings, and the fact that she knew what I was going through gave me strength and courage to soldier on. Firefly Sisterhood is truly a gift to those facing breast cancer.”

Our mentorship program is free of charge and accessible from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment, and into survivorship. While Firefly Sisterhood was founded and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, our support services are available nationwide.
